Education and Networking

At OntarioMD, we believe that in addition to providing clinicians with useful tools and support, our organization has a responsibility to ensure they have opportunities to network with EMR-connected peers and learn from best practices. The opportunities highlighted in this section are designed to do that.

As Canada’s largest EMR-focused conference series, OntarioMD’s EMR: Every Step Conference has earned a reputation as one of the most important health care learning and networking events on the calendar. In 2018, hundreds of clinicians and stakeholders attended our conferences in London and Toronto, sharing ideas and earning CME credits.

We also brought learning and networking to communities across Ontario through our On the Road with OntarioMD regional seminar series. Each session delivered educational and applied content on a key health care topic. In 2018-2019, we focused on technology and best practices for safe opioid prescribing. During the fiscal year, 250+ clinicians and their staff attended 11 On the Road seminars.

It’s essential that connected clinicians know how to keep patient health information private and secure. That’s why in 2018 we developed a comprehensive online Privacy and Security Training Module, accessible whenever and wherever clinicians and allied health professionals need it. It covers topics such as safeguarding PHI from breaches, and how to comply with obligations under PHIPA, and is certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada for two MainPro+ credits.
